The idea

Two rooms that share one door.

On one side, five nail specialists work by hand: Russian cleaning, builder gel sculpted to your own nail, gel polish, and regular polish from Hermès and Chanel. On the other side is a café with its own menu, where matcha is whisked to order and a block of asin tibuok, the smoked sea salt of Bohol, is grated over your latte at the counter.

Book a manicure and start with a drink in the café. A friend who only wants coffee is welcome to sit with you. Some guests come for the matcha alone and leave with a booking for Saturday. Most salons hand you a magazine while you wait. Here, the waiting is the part people come back for. Lavande is on the 2nd floor of Manila Bankers Prosperity Tower in Legazpi Village, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Every Google review of Lavande so far is five stars. These are quoted as written.

“Hands down one of the best matchas I’ve ever had. The bitter matcha, the sweet milk and the hint of saltiness from the Asin Tibuok rock salt. Clean, amazing aesthetic, and I got my nails done too.”

“I came in wanting a classy French tip design, and they executed it beautifully. I also really appreciated how they emphasized aftercare.”

Does Lavande really use Hermès and Chanel nail polish?

Yes. Premium Regular Polish at Lavande is done with nail polish from Hermès and Chanel. It is ₱2,300 for a manicure or pedicure and ₱4,000 for both. The shades are on the polish wall, so you choose your colour in person.

What is the asin tibuok matcha latte?

It is ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha, whisked to order and finished with asin tibuok, a smoked sea salt made by hand in Bohol. The salt is grated over the drink at the counter. It tastes of matcha first, then milk, then a small savoury note at the end.
