A nail café is a nail salon and a specialty café that share one space. You can book a manicure, order a coffee, or do both in the same visit. Lavande Nails & Café in Legazpi Village, Makati is built this way: a nail room on one side, a café with its own menu and seats on the other.

How a nail café differs from a salon with a coffee machine

Plenty of salons offer you a drink. That does not make them nail cafés. The difference comes down to whether the café could stand on its own.

At Lavande the café has a barista, a pastry counter and a menu that people come in for without an appointment. Matcha is ceremonial grade and whisked to order. Coffee is made on a proper machine. Nobody hands you a paper cup while you wait.

What a visit looks like

Most guests arrive ten or fifteen minutes before their appointment and start in the café. Your technician collects you when your station is ready.

In the nail room the pace is slower than you may be used to. A clean manicure takes 60 to 90 minutes. A Premium Gel Polish manicure is booked for about 1 hour 40 minutes because cleaning and aftercare are included. Builder gel extensions, sculpted by hand, take 90 to 120 minutes. The time is deliberate. Careful cuticle work and thin, even coats are why a set still looks good three weeks later.

If you came with someone, they can stay in the café the whole time. When you are done, a second drink is common.

What it costs

Prices at Lavande are listed in full on the services page. The ones guests ask about most:

  • Premium Gel Polish, manicure or pedicure: ₱1,500
  • Premium Regular Polish in Hermès or Chanel: ₱2,300
  • Russian Cleaning: ₱2,500
  • Builder Gel Overlay Manicure: from ₱2,500
  • Builder Gel Extension, hands: from ₱2,800
  • Nail Art: from ₱50 per nail

Who it suits

A nail café makes sense if any of these sound like you:

  • You never go alone, and the person who comes with you gets bored in salons.
  • You want an appointment that feels like a break and not an errand.
  • You care what is in the cup as much as what is in the bottle.
  • You work nearby in Makati and want one stop for nails and a real coffee.

If you want the fastest possible polish change in your lunch break, a regular salon will be quicker. That is an honest trade. A nail café is for the days you have the time.

A private option

Some guests prefer a closed door. Lavande has one VIP nail room, in deep aubergine with cream recliners, that can be requested for any service. Ask for it when you book, and book ahead on weekends.

Booking and walk-ins

Walk-ins are welcome when a technician is free. To be sure of your time, especially on a Saturday or Sunday, book online. Lavande is on the 2nd floor of Manila Bankers Prosperity Tower, 110 Legazpi Street, Legazpi Village, and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM.

What is a nail café?

A nail café is one space that holds a nail salon and a specialty café. You can have a manicure, a coffee, or both in the same visit. The café has its own menu and seating, so a friend who is not having her nails done has a proper place to sit.

Do I have to order a drink to get my nails done?

No. The nail room and the café are booked and paid for separately. Many guests have a matcha or a coffee before their appointment, but it is your choice. You can also come only for the café and never set foot in the nail room.
